Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about selling or donating your materials through Murco.

What types of materials do you accept?

Murco will remove and resell materials from projects of every scope. Whether you have full house tear down full of vintage goodies, a used kitchen that just isn’t your style anymore, or one super fabulous bathtub that doesn’t fit in your new layout. We approach every project a little differently to make sure the most materials possible are diverted from the landfill and back into the community.

Before submitting materials to Murco ensure they are things that they are in pristine working order, in fabulous condition, from a reputable brand, or a special vintage find. We do not accept outdated, worn, or broken materials. Generally if it feels wrong to throw away, and would be an upgrade in someone else’s home, we have a market for it.

Do you accept materials nationwide?

Oh what a fabulous question! Yes. Yes we do.

When to Submit Materials

The sooner you loop us in on a project the better. Murco does not remove any materials until they have been resold so we need time to market your materials to the community and require a minimum of 3 weeks before materials have to be off-site. If you have one or two items that need to be gone yesterday— still drop us a line. Sometimes we can work miracles.

What’s the Difference Between Donating or Selling?

Murco’s service is exactly the same whether you sell or donate. We either pay you a percentage of the profits of the sale, or our nonprofit partners get the payout and you get the tax deduction (which often is more than the resale value).

What if my Materials Don’t Sell?

When you enlist Murco to donate or sell your inventory we will always get it removed for free and whisked off site within your renovation timeline. We carefully select projects to ensure we can get it done— you’ll never be left with materials that Murco has agreed to manage.

If I’m selling, can i control the price?

In short: nope! Murco is always fighting for the highest return possible of your materials (it’s how we eat!)— but at the end of the day we are a reflection of the current buyer market and need full autonomy to augment the price based on our expertise, the project timeline, and the amount of interest your materials are getting. Our priority is to get it sold and removed at no cost to you. If you want a guaranteed return, donation is a better option as you get to write-off your donation based on the full appraised value of the materials.

Do you Remove/ Deconstruct Materials?

Yes! Once your materials are purchased, we professionally remove and transport all outgoing materials to their new home at no cost to you. This saves you tons of money on disposal and demolition fees. Generally, we do not remove inventory until we have a buyer. We keep things green by removing and transporting to the buyer in one swoop.
